Trayce,

I have just watched the Lock Up epsiode of your husband Kevin Blanco and I'm sorry for what both of you have had to go thru. I know nothing of your situation or where you are, but can you go and visit him? What he needs is love and what little of your time they will allow you to spend with him. Is there an address where others can write to him and show support? And maybe send items like writing paper and what other items that are allowed? Please reply back and let me know. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Much love! Keep your head up.

I agree with your comment..it often is a thankless job. And one that often receives little recognition of value from stakeholders and the general public.

I am struck by the difference in the way similar professions are perceived. One could consider law enforcement and child welfare. Law enforcement professionals generally are held in high regard, receive retirement benefits and pensions that far exceed that provided to child welfare workers, and are lauded as self-sacrificing public servants. As a child welfare worker, I often went to crack houses & meth labs (without benefit of protection, I might add!), was routinely threatened, was on-call 24/7, and spent a good deal of my time in courtrooms. Studies have shown that child welfare work is a dangerous job, making it to the top 10 list of most dangerous professions. Furthermore, social work was recently identified as the lowest paying profession among college graduates. And yet a child welfare worker generally receives little recognition or acknowledgment for their contributions to the community.

Your comments are appreciated; I wish more people shared your sentiments!

Mrs Blanco my prayers are with you, Kevin and your entire families being affected. The show Locked Up was just aired and instantly my heart went out to Kevin. The rage in him is so raw and abundant that there is no way he will ever get the help he needs from those "desensitized" government employees. Divine intervention is what is desperately needed and the destination of my prayers . . . hold on.
